There are few words in the English language that people shy away from more than “skin cancer.” It’s not a made-up word, and to say the words doesn’t do any harm to anyone, but it’s a word that people avoid at all cost. So why shy away from a word that has such a powerful meaning?

Skin cancer is a term for cancerous cells on the skin. Just like lung cancer is cancerous cells or tumors on the lung, it means something bad on something vital to your body.

The truth about this cancer is that it’s one of the most preventable diseases in the world, and maybe that is the reason everyone seems to shy away from it. There are many cancers out there that you just have to accept. Brain, liver, and kidney cancer are often not through your own devices, and it’s something that can get anyone at any time. But cancer of the skin is a different breed.

Cancer of the skin is high avoidable. There are things that can be done to help prevent it. Applying daily sunscreen, getting checked by your doctors when an issue arises, and making sure you avoid the sun on rather blistering days all can ensure that your skin stays healthy.

For the kids this information is valuable and should really become part of the everyday routine. The world knows more now than it ever did about SunCare, and the harmful UV rays that can really harm yourself and those that you love. Caring about it early and making our kids aware of it’s importance will just help to lead us to a lifetime of safe skin.

This topic doesn’t have to be taboo. It can be a happy topic that means you have done everything you can to protect yourself and your children.
